CHINESE CRESTED DOGS ARE UNIQUE, RARE AND FABULOUS HOUSE PETS! "The Chinese Crested Dog is a smaller (10-13 lbs) breed of dog known for its unusual appearance and entertaining personality. It is a member of the toy dog group. Two types can be born in the same litter; the Hairless and the Powderpuff. At first glance, the "Hairless" and "Powderpuff" varieties of Chinese Crested Dogs appear to be two different breeds, but hairlessness is a dominant trait within a single breed. The Hairless has soft, humanlike skin, as well as tufts of fur on its paws ("socks", or "feathers") and tail ("plume") and long, flowing hair on its head ("crest"). The Hairless variety can vary in amount of body hair. Fur on the muzzle, known as a beard, is not uncommon. A True Hairless often does not have as much furnishings (hair on the head, tail, and paws). The difference between a very Hairy Hairless and a Powderpuff is that the Hairless has a single coat, often with hairless parts on the body, while the Powderpuff has a thick double coat. The skin of the Hairless comes in a variety of colors, ranging from a pale flesh to black. Hairless Cresteds often lack a full set of teeth, but this is not considered a fault.
The look of the Powderpuff varies according to how it is groomed. When its fur is completely grown out on its face, it strongly resembles a terrier; however, the Powderpuff is usually shaved around the snout as a standard cut. Its fur is incredibly soft. Due to its coat type, both Powderpuff and Hairless are considered good pets for allergy sufferers.
The amount of body hair on the Hairless variety varies quite extensively, from the True Hairless which has very little or no body hair and furnishings, to what is called a Hairy Hairless, which if left ungroomed can grow a nearly full coat of hair. These Hairy Hairless are not a mix between Powderpuffs and Hairless Chinese Cresteds though, but is merely a result of the varying expression of the Hairless gene, which the Powderpuff does not have at all. Perhaps the most famous of the Chinese Crested dogs was a Hairless purebred named Sam, who was dubbed the "World's Ugliest Dog" in competition from 2003 to 2005. He died before he could compete in 2006. Sam's most characteristic ugly traits were his extremely wrinkled skin, deformed teeth, and cataracts. While other Chinese Crested hairless dogs have been in the competition and won, it is arguable that none have been as ugly as Sam, whose looks literally scare people. (Source: www.wikipedia.org)
ARROW ARROW has been SOLD!! Arrow is the only Hairless male born on March 18, 2008 to Amethyst and Jack. He has two AKC Powderpuff brothers, Archer and Aim. He is a GORGEOUS slate and tri-color Hairy Hairless boy. Arrow is SOLD to a lovely couple, Justin and Veronica, in New Hampshire. Arrow is a sweet-tempered boy who loves to cuddle his people and will squiggle with delight when you talk to him! What a LOVE!
Jewel This is Jewel, our AKC girl. Her four beautiful pups were born February 13, 2008. We call this lovely girl Jia.
JIA Jia is SOLD!! She went home with Laura of Oppelo , Arkansas. Her new name is Pony...We'll miss her!
JAG is SOLD! This is Jag, our AKC Hairy Hairless male puppy, with dark slate skin, white lacing/spots on his chest and belly, and black, white and brown furnishings. He is a very beautiful dog, and will make some lucky girl a fabulous husband! He has made his new home with Jill in Northeast Arkansas. In addition to Jag, the Hairy Hairless Male, we have one AKC Powderpuff male called Archer. This gorgeous boy will have tremendously silky hair that will be long and luxurious! Shown below is the little Lion Puppy that we lovingly call Java.

JAVA, after he got his first grooming. He was SO happy to be cooler! Java will be 6-8 lbs full grown, and has a very tiny little frame. Java is going to stay with us and grow up with our kids!
Our APR mama (Selah) gave birth to two Hairless females. The two girls are blue/slate with black and brown furnishings with a little white. They both have Phantom markings; I have never seen this in any Crested before! They are simply gorgeous, and VERY sweet. My daughter adores these two; we call them Inky and Dinky.
INKY is SOLD! Inky, shown above, is a bit darker, more blue, and a little bigger than her sister, Dinky. They come with APR registration; their daddy was AKC, and mama is APR registered. So pretty!
DINKY has been SOLD!! Dinky is the sweetest little girl, shown above. Dinky has gone home to a lovely young lady in Conway, Arkansas! She is from an AKC dad and an APR mama. She is slate with beautiful tri-color furnishings... her head looks black in the picture, but she has mahogany-brown roots growing in.
Dinky with her new sweater! Lastly is our APR True Hairless male, a slate boy with white lacing on his chest with brown and black furnishings. His Daddy was AKC, and Mama was APR. He has sparse brown hair on his head with a paintbrush tail, and furry feet. We fondly call him BlackJack.

AIM is SOLD! Aim is our other AKC Powderpuff boy. He is a Tri-color Puff with fantastic silky fur; non-shedding, hypoallergenic, perfect for allergy sufferers. He is ALL Personality! AIM went to live with his brother, Arrow (now called Bowman!) in Salem, New Hampshire! If you have any interest in a puppy, please contact us for more pictures and shipping options. All of our puppies are hand-raised underfoot, have their first shot, worming and have begun house-breaking. They are also well-socialized with all six of our kids, and our cats are their blankets during the winter months!
